Debate on charter amendments on senatorial election kicked off

Chief whip Udomdet Ratanasasthien kicked of the deliberation of a charter amendment bill on the election of senators at 11:45 am Monday.
The debate was delayed after Democrat MPs protested against Senate Speaker Nikom Waiyaratphanich, calling for a ban for him from chairing the meeting. The Democrats pointed out that if Nikom chairs the meeting later, it would be a conflict of interest because he co-sponsored the amendment bill on senators’ election.
