Paradorn pledges peace talks to go on

Peace talks with militant Muslim leaders will continue despite ongoing violence in the Deep South, National Security Council (NSC) secretary general Paradorn Pattanathabutr said Tuesday.

Saying the unrest hadn’t diminished since the last month dialogue session with the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) in Kuala Lumpur, Paradorn said the unrest would continue with or without the dialogue with anyway, as it stemmed from factors including BRN or illegal trades.
“The frequency of violent activities in the South has increased but the degree of violence was milder. Security has been stepped up in many areas such as Narathiwat’s Bacho district,” he said.
