Liverpool "shocked" as Suarez gets 10-game ban for biting

London - Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre said he was "shocked and disappointed" on Wednesday after Luis Suarez was suspended for 10 games for biting.

The Uruguayan forward admitted biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic during the 2-2 draw in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday.
But Suarez had hoped to avoid anything more than the three-game ban issued for non-exceptional instances of violent conduct.
"Both the club and player are shocked and disappointed at the severity of today's Independent Regulatory Commission decision," said Ayre.
"We await the written reasons tomorrow before making any further comment."//DPA
