China, Thailand agree on trade target as foreign minister visits

Thailand and China Tuesday agreed to increase bilateral trade to US$100 billion (Bt2.9 trillion) by 2015, during an official visit by newly appointed Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Two-way trade was nearly $70 billion last year.

Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul said the two sides promised to push for the goal when Wang called on Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at Government House yesterday.
Yingluck paid much attention to the question of whether giant panda Lin Ping, which was born in Thailand to parents on loan from China, would be sent back soon.
