Domestic consumer confidence index (CCI) in April this year, fell for the first time in the past seven months to 83.7 from 84.8 in March 2-13, the Economic
and Business Forecasting Centre of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce announced on Thursday.
The weaker consumer confidence level last month was attributed to the adverse impacts of the strong baht on Thai exports, economic growth and the tourism sector. In addidtion, the continuing depressed agricultural goods prices and sluggish global economic recovery also dampened consumer's confidence.
Confidence in the overall Thai economy in April stood at 75.0, down from 73.9 in March; jobs opportunities was at 76.4, down from 75.5, while future incomes was at 101.8, down from 102.9 in March, UTCC reported.
