Beauty title contender faces arrest over video

Police are taking action against a Miss Maxim contestant who posted a video clip in which a young boy is taught how to smoke what looks like an illicit drug.

Kwanjai Khempradub, who has made it into the final round of this year’s Miss Maxim contest, insisted that the white powder visible in the clip is just a harmless powder.

“Posting such a clip on YouTube is a violation of the Computer Crime Act because it shows others how to abuse an illicit substance,” Technology Crime Suppression Division chief Maj-General Pisit Pao-in said yesterday.
He said Kwanjai should come forward and contact his office.
“If she doesn’t come on her own, we will issue a summons. If she does not respond, she will face an arrest warrant,” he said.
Pisit said the agency also intends to apprehend a man whose voice is heard on the video.
If the investigation confirms that the white powder seen in the clip was an illicit drug, Kwanjai could face up to five years in jail and/or a maximum fine of Bt100,000, the officer said.
Police Spokesman Maj-General Piya Utayo said anyone who shared the controversial video clip would also face legal punishment.
