Bangladesh building collapse death toll rises to 656

Dhaka - The death toll in a collapsed building in Bangladesh rose to 656 as rescuers found more bodies in the wreckage Monday, officials said.
Forty-six bodies were recovered since Sunday evening in the rubble of an eight-storey building that housed five garment factories in Savar, 25 kilometres north-west of the capital Dhaka.
More than 2,400 people were injured in the accident that has put Bangladesh under pressure to meet international labour standards for its garment industry, which accounts for 79 per cent of export earnings.//DPA
