Cabinet approves Bt11bn for 54,000 university employees' pay hikes

The Cabinet Tuesday approved Bt11 billion budget for increasing salaries of more than 54,000 university employees at 79 universities.
Education Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that the salary increases would benefit 54,801 employees who have worked before January 1, 2012 for the universities. The approval would be in effect retrospectively from January 1, 2012 and it costs around Bt11.7 billion.
