A Crime Suppression crackdown on a gambling den in Hat Yai on Sunday has led to the immediate transfer of six local police.
Some 44 punters were nabbed along with gambling devices and Bt20,000 in cash. Songkhla police chief Pol Maj-General Suwit Choensiri yesterday moved Hat Yai superintendent Pol Colonel Adirek Beuraheng and five other officers to the Provincial Police Centre in Na Thawi indefinitely.
Suwit’s deputy Pol Colonel Kritsakorn Pleethanyawong will act as superintendent while the six are investigated. He said Hat Yai police had cracked down on this den before, but it kept reopening.
