Democrats move to impeach govt over water project

The Opposition Democrat Party will file a petition to remove the Yingluck Cabinet on suspicion that the government colluded with four large companies in the bidding of the Bt350-billion water-management scheme.

Democrat Bangkok MP Atavit Suwannapakdee, also a shadow Cabinet spokesman, said the shadow Cabinet had decided to solicit 120 MP signatures to file impeachment proceedings against the Yingluck Cabinet.
The Opposition has accused the government of violating the National Anti-Corruption Commission law and Article 67 of the Constitution for not allowing members of the public to take part in the bidding, and for colluding with four large conglomerates in the water-management bidding process.
The impeachment move is linked with the Opposition’s plan to censure the government in the upcoming House session.
