The Ombudsman, acting on a petition filed by the Green Politics group, found that Khamronwit flew out of the country on June 28 last year to meet Thaksin in Hong Kong on June 29. A picture of Kamronwit being decorated by Thaksin with the note: “I am what I am today because of you, Brother” dated June 29, 2012 that was hung in Khamronwit’s office was also cited by the Ombudsman as evidence against Khamronwit. His meeting with Thaksin, who was convicted for abuse of authority by the Supreme Court, could lead to criticism of the country’s justice system, the letter from the Ombudsman to police said.
The Ombudsman submitted a copy of the letter on Khamronwit’s case to the National Anti-Corruption Commission as requested. Green Politics had also filed its petition at the NACC.
