Islamic teacher shot dead in front of home

An Islamic teacher was shot dead in Yala's Betong district on Friday night.

The body of Ahama Doloh was found lying in front of his house in Tambon Aiyoeweng. He was shot in the head, right arm and torso.

Found at the scene were 21-spent M16 shells, while some of the ammunition fired was found imbedded in the walls of his house.

Witnesses said Ahama was returning from prayers when two men called out to him just before he entered his house. As Ahama turned to see who was calling out, the two men opened fire and then fled on a motorcycle.

A background check revealed that an arrest warrant had been issued for the deceased in 2008.

The victim’s relatives did not allow the body to be taken for autopsy. Religious rights have already been carried out.

Police speculated that personal conflict could be a possible motive for the killing.
