The students, from Ramkhamhaeng, Kasetsart, Rangsit, Thammasat and Chulalongkorn universities, were planning anti-government activities with the People’s Army, Thaikorn said.
He added that vocational students also wanted to join the rally but their schools had stopped them, fearing the Education Ministry would take them to task.
“I believe the schools can’t stop students who want to join our rally,” he said.
The anti-government rally at Lumpini Park has continued in a lacklustre atmosphere with little recent activity on the rally stage.
Thaikorn said his group agreed in principle with the government’s reconciliation plan but believed such a plan could not be achieved as long as the Thaksin regime exists.
He warned members of the People’s Army to follow its live announcements and not material posted on its website which had been hacked.
Thaikorn said the online struggle between supporters and opponents of the government had intensified with government supporters posting messages to mislead People’s Army members and attack the group.
