Schools in Pattani suspend classes after teacher's killing

Twelve schools in four Tambons in Pattani suspended classes on Tuesday after an assistant teacher was gunned down on his way home.
Athikom Tiwongse of Baan Prajan School was killed when two armed men following him on a motorcycle opened fire.
His school suspended classes immediately, saying this would give teachers and students the opportunity to attend his funeral and also allow time to deal with the killing. A sports event was also cancelled.
Eleven schools in Muaeng district decided to follow suit. The schools are to resume services on August 26.
