Govt promises thorough investigation

Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnok said that the government would launch thorough investigation into the killing of a man in Nakhon Si Thammarat, in the venue where protester rubber-growers stay.

He said that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra expressed regrets to the incident, which should not have happened.
Pracha added that the government would try to find the killer and the bullet found in the head of the dead man should be a key evidence.
Saying that police will award Bt100,000 to any lead, he said police has troubles in investigating the incident as they are stationed 10km from the venue.
"Police officers want to be closer to keep peace, but protesters don't let them. The government wants to do so, as the third party could emerge and worsen the situation. For now, it remains unknown who shot who," he said. "We may need to have a talk with them on the security issue."
The man was shot at 3am today, reportedly referred as a security guard of the protesters. Earlier today, a police official in the Southern province said the man was killed on a personal reason. Democrat MP Thavorn Sennium rebutted later, saying that it was too soon for the police to know the killer and the cause.
