LPG hearing begins

Representatives of the Foundation for Consumers were at the Central Administrative Court today, for the first hearing date of the cooking gas petition.

Saree Ongsomwang, the foundation's leader, said her evidence should be enough to convince the court that the cooking gas price hike is illegal.
She said the government showed wrong information, by saying that the ex-factory price is at Bt24.82 per kg against the price of Bt9 at Sirikit Field. She also said there is no government agency to regulate the price. As all gas separation plants belong to PTT, the company holds the sole power to fix the price.
The price of liquefied petroleum gas, LPG or better known as cooking gas, was raised on September 1.
