All Thais in Nairobi safe

Ministry of Foreign Affairs deputy spokesman Chakkrit Sriwalee announced on Sunday that all Thais in Nairobi are safe from the al-Qaida-linked militants' attack on an upscale mall in Nairobi.

The Thai Embassy in Nairobi confirmed that Thais are not among the list of victims. About 100 Thais live in the African country.
However, any Thais planning a trip to Kenya should closely monitor the situation.
Kenya's interior minister Joseph Lenku said on Sunday that at least 59 people were killed and 175 wounded.
Multiple barrages of gunfire erupted on Sunday morning from inside the building where there is a hostage standoff with Islamic extremists nearly 24 hours after they attacked using grenades and assault rifles.
