Bangkok to join int'l march for elephants

Forty five local and international organisations on Friday submitted a petition to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, seeking legal amendments to effectively tackle illicit ivory trade and save the elephants.

The petition was submitted to the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry.
The organisations said that Thailand is rather slow in amending the law, though illicit ivory trade in Thailand is of the highest volume in the world after China's.
At 4pm, elephant lovers will march from Siam Square to CentralWorld, joining the international march that will cover 45 cities worldwide.
