Cabinet approves foreign tourist division in courts

The Cabinet Tuesday allocated Bt17.05 million for the Court of Justice to set up a special tourist division to speed up cases related to foreign tourists.
Deputy Government Spokeswoman Sunisa Lertpakawat said the new tourist division will be opened in a pilot project for seven courts in tourist destination areas.
The seven courts are Pattaya Provincial Court, Chiang Mai District Court, Phuket Provincial Court, Koh Samui Provincial Court, Krabi Provincial Court, Dusit District Court and Pathumvan District Court.
The spokeswoman said the Cabinet saw the need to speed up cases in which foreign tourists are victims because foreign tourists will have to leave the kingdom soon.
The new court division will also get Thailand prepared for the integration into the Asean Economic Community in 2015.
