BMA not support Urupong protesters: spokesman

Wasan Meewong, spokesman for Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra denied that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is supporting the Students and People Network for Thailand Reform rally at the Urupong intersection.

Speaking on the radio program FM 97 MHz, Wasan admitted that BMA has sent the electric-generator cars to Urupong rally site. But, he said, the generators were sent on humanitarian reason to provide lighting to prevent untoward incidents and violent incidents. He aid police should be thankful that BMA was able to attend the need of every group of residents.
“In 2010, Sukhumpan was still the Bangkok Governor and he also did the same thing [for red-shirt rally]. So, why questioning us today? Aren’t the protestors Thai citizens that are using their rights under the Constitution?,” he said.
