Insurgents invited to talks

A military spokesman said yesterday that in addition to the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN), other insurgent groups were also welcome to join the next round of talks this month with Thai authorities. The move comes in response to a number of violent incid

However, the BRN will have the freedom to select the groups it wants to take part in the fourth round of meetings to be held this month, Colonel Charoon Ampha said.
Deputy Prime Minister Pracha Promnog, who heads a new government centre tasked with securing peace in the deep South, will decide on behalf of Thai authorities when the next meeting in November should be held.
