A student prays for no border clash

Duangrat Hiaprakhon, a Mathayom 3 student at Khok Krachai School, wished there were no clash along the Thai-Cambodian border.

She recalled the bombing in her village recently which caused damage to her school. All students had to flee in various directions.   "The memory still haunts me and my family. I pray this would not reoccur," she said.
To prepare for a possible clash, the Buri Ram Primary Educational Service Area issued Sunday the order to close over 40 schools in Ban Kruad district, ahead of the verdict on the Preah Vihear on Monday.
They will be closed for two days - November 11 and 12.
Somsak Chobthamdee, director of the service area, said that the order followed a discussion with the provincial governor and security units on November 7.
It was agreed that if violence along the border erupts and sparks need for evacuation, these children should be with their parents.
"However, teachers and school administrators must be stationed at the schools and security guards must maintain the 24-hour watch. They must report any irregularities right away," Somsak.
