Motorbike rider in Jakkrit case still missing

Metropolitan Police chief Lt-General Camronwit Toopgrajank said yesterday that Thawatchai Phetchchote, who allegedly drove a getaway motorcycle for a hitman in the October 19 murder of Olympic sharpshooter Jakkrit Panichpatikum, remains in hiding in Thail

Police earlier offered a Bt100,000 reward for any information leading to Thawatchai’s arrest.
Camronwit also affirmed that police had solid evidence against lawyer Santi Thongsame, who was accused of finding the gunman for Surang Duangjinda, mother of Jakkrit's wife, Dr Nithiwadee Phucharoenyos. Santi, who maintains his innocence, was released on bail at 5.30pm yesterday. Camronwit thanked all parties involved in the investigation, saying they helped police wrap up details of the murder within a mere 21 days.
Lawyers Council of Thailand spokesman Niwat Kaewluan announced that since one of the suspects was the 28-year-old lawyer Santi, the council had launched a fact-finding probe into Santi and his lawyer’s licence.
