Group-of-40 senators file petition with Constitution Court against Bt2-trillion bill

The Group-of-40 senators Thursday submitted a petition to the Constitution, seeking a judicial review whether the Bt2-trillion loan bill was unconstitutional or not.
The group’s members, including Khamnoon Sitthisamarn, Paibool Nititawan and Rosana Tositrakul, alleged in the petition that the bill, which cleared the final reading in the Senate on Wednesday, violated Article 170 of the Constitution.
The petition said the provision that would allow the government to spend Bt2 trillion from loans without sending the money to the Finance Ministry first would violate Article 170.
