Tens of thousands of anti-government protesters join Rajdamnoen rally

The massive number of anti-government protesters gathered on Sunday at Rajdamnoen rally site and surrounding roads in what was described as a "major battle day" aimed at rooting out Thaksin regime.
Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban has called for people who are not happy with Thaksin regime to join the protest. His aim was to draw at least one million protesters.
The protesters comprised people from all walks of life, including alumni of Chulalongkorn and Thammasa universities.
It was reported that police checkpoints were erected at many venues including at the entrance of the Royal Turf Club of Thailand. Some protesters from provinces also posted in Facebook that their vehicles were checked. .
