PDRC asks NBTC to act against Modernine TV, NBT

The People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) Monday filed a complaint with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) calling for an administrative order or legal action against the MCOT's Modernine TV and the Public Relations

The PDRC alleged that both state-owned channels were intervened by the government Sunday and this action allegedly violated the Article 46 of the Constitution.
In the complaint, the PDRC said that MCOT abruptly stopped airing the live broadcast of the first announcement by Suthep Thaugsuban, the PDRC secretary-general at 4.30pm on Sunday and MCOT did not broadcast the second announcement by the PDRC leader.
Thanom Onketpol, a representative of the PDRC, urged the NBTC to take a legal action or issue an administrative order against both public TV channels as soon as possible.
Responding to the request, Natee Sukonrat, the chairman of the NBTC's Broadcasting Committee, said that his panel would send a letter to free-to-air TV, cable and satellite TV broadcasters as well as radio operators, calling them to maintain journalism ethics and reporting news with balance and fairness.
