Chalerm says EC responsible for failure to hold advance voting in several provinces

Caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung, the director of the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order, said the Election Commission must be held responsible for failing to hold advance voting in several provinces.

Chalerm said the EC has never asked the CMPO to deploy more policemen to guard polling stations where protests were expected.
Therefore, the number of policemen guarding stations were outnumbered by protesters, Chalerm said.
Chalerm said the EC might be pleased to see the cancellations because it wanted to postpone the February 2 election.
“The EC must be held responsible. Somchai [Srisuthiyakorn, an EC commissioner,] should not laugh because you will be held responsible,” Chalerm said.
