Somchai says new House's first meeting to be delayed by three or four months

Election Commissioner Somchai Srisuthiyakorn said if the government goes ahead with the February 2 election, the first House meeting will be delayed by three or four months.

Somchai explained that the EC would have to hold new elections for 83 constituencies, whose advance voting stations were blocked. He said some 2 million voters, who have registered to cast absentee ballot or advance vote, had not yet exercised their rights.
After they vote in the rescheduled elections of the 83 constituencies, their votes would be counted with votes on the February 2 election so the results of the February 2 poll would have to be delayed, Somchai explained.
