On Thursday, protesters led by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, were still rallying outside the three post exchanges to prevent officials from taking out ballots and boxes for distribution.
It is expected that the voting in these 14 southern provinces will now not be held as the ballots and ballot boxes cannot be distributed to polling stations in the provinces in time for the election.
There is however speculation that the government might deploy helicopters to three post centres to transport the ballots and boxes.
The three post centres are in Hat Yai district, Songkhla, Thungsong district, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Chumphon’s Muang district.
The Hat Yai exchange is responsible for distributing ballots and boxes to polling stations in Songkhla, Satun, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
The Thungsong centre is responsible for distributing ballots and boxes to polling stations in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Krabi and Trang.
The Chumphon Centre is responsible for distributing ballots and ballot boxes to polling stations in Chumphon, Phang Nga, Surat Thani, Ranong and Phuket.
