Lecturer accused of lese majeste

The army is considering taking legal action against Thammasat University lecturer Somsak Jeamteerasakul for allegedly posting Facebook messages deemed offensive to the monarchy.
Deputy Army spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree said yesterday that some messages carried content deemed to be inappropriate to society and some messages may have been in breach of the lese majesty law.
The Army, which has the duty to protect the integrity and honour of the royal institution, will order its legal department to take action in parallel with slapping social sanctions against Somsak.
