Late senior monk to be bid final goodbye in royally sponsored ceremony next month

The royally sponsored cremation ceremony for Somdet Phra Buddhacarya (Kiaw Upaseno), second only to the Supreme Patriarch, will take place at Wat Debsirin in Bangkok on March 9.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over the ceremony on behalf of His Majesty.
The former abbot of Wat Srakes, who passed away at the age of 85 in August last year, used to serve as acting Supreme Patriarch.
The late monk’s relics will be kept at Wat Srakes after the cremation.
