EC commissioner Somchai ask Niwattumrong to affirm he has authority to propose election decree

Election Commission member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn Monday urged acting Prime Minister Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan to make sure that he has the authority to submit a draft election royal decree for a royal endorsement.
Somchai, who is in charge of holding elections, said Somchai should make sure that the has the authority to seek a royal command before the government holds a discussion with the EC on Wednesday.
Somchai said Niwattumrong should attend the meeting by himself.
The EC commissioner said Somchai should also consider whether it is possible for the draft to add a clause, allowing the July 20 election to be postponed in case of untoward incidents.
