All HIV affected people to get medication despite CD4 count

People with HIV/Aids, who are qualified for the universal Bt30 health scheme, will next year be entitled to anti-retroviral pills regardless of the number of CD4 (cluster of differentiation 4) in their blood, ThaiPlus network said Friday.

Previously, on those who had less than 200 CD4 in their blood were only given anti-retrovirals before the level was adjusted to 350, ThaiPlus chairman Apiwat Kwangkaew said.
The National Health Security Office’s decision to allow everybody who has tested positive free access to the expensive medication will go into effect next year.
