Top 50 students in far South win scholarships

The Pitak Prachachat Foundation, the Foundation of Islamic Centre of Thailand and the Network of Female Leaders have received scholarship grants totalling Bt525,000 for outstanding students in the deep South.
General Winai Pattiyakul, president of the Pitak Prachachat Foundation and a former permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior, presided over the grant ceremony at the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre in Yala last week.
According to the event’s organisers, this is the eighth consecutive year the scholarships have been granted.
Every year for the past eight years some 50 students are selected from high schools and universities to receive a scholarship of Bt10,500 each.
Recipients expressed their gratitude and promised to spend the funds wisely.
