Chula academic calls for enforcement of traffic laws
Chulalongkorn University's political scientist Chaiyan Chaiyaporn on Tuesday called on the junta to ensure traffic laws are strictly enforced to show single standard is being applied.
Noting that all Thais struggle with traffic problems, he pointed out that strictly enforcing the traffic laws would demonstrate that a single standard is being applied and that all people were being treated equally. This, he said, is the basis for respecting the rights of others.
He proposed that it should become mandatory for drivers to stop and let pedestrians go when they cross the roads using zebra crossings.
