Democrat Party's legal team head Wirat Kalayasiri Tuesday proposed that the election laws should be amended to empower the Election Commission to bypass the government in setting the election date.
Wirat said if the EC can set the election date on its own without seeking approval from the government, it would prevent the ruling party from having an advantage.
