NCPO cancels local elections

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has announced that no local elections would be held until further notice even when local political posts become vacant.
The NCPO announcements on the local elections also require that at least two thirds of local councils’ members must be current or former senior government officials. This rule also applies to the Bangkok Council.
