Six new registration centres to open

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is to open six new "one stop service" centres today to handle the registration of migrant workers, a senior official said on Monday.

The existing eight centres nation-wide have so far registered some 60,000 migrant workers.
Department of Employment chief Sumet Mahosod said the new centres, which would run until August 14, would be set up at the Ram-Indra Sports Centre in Bang Khen, at the Bangkok Youth Centre (Thai-Japan) in Din Saeng, at Minthinthong City Hall in Minburi, at the Lumpini Youth Center in Pathumwan, at the Tawee Wattana’s Youth Center, and at Bang Bon’s Sports Centre. Up to 1,000 foreign workers are expected to register at each centre, which will be manned by 10 officials, the official added.
