NRC selection to get off to an early start

The National Reform Council selection committees will start working one day earlier than planned.

Election Commission's Secretary General Puchong Nutrawong said Monday that all 11 NRC selection committees had decided to start their work oneday earlier than scheduled due to the large number of applicants.
The process will now start on September 12 and all committees are scheduled to finish the selection process by September 22.
However the provinciallevel selection committees, except for Bangkok, will only meet a few times to complete their tasks as there are not many applicants to consider.
The selection process will be conducted in the way demanded by Gen. Prayuth Chanocha, the Prime Minister and the National Council for Peace and Order leader, that is cautious, transparent, fair and diversified.
Some 7,360 people are vying to sit on the 250member National Reform Council. The final number to undergo selection screening is expected to be announced today.
