Myanmar carriers opening more Thai routes

Two more privately owned Myanmar carriers - Shwe Myanmar Airlines and Air KBZ - will begin flying between Yangon and Chiang Mai, as demand for flights to the northern city in Thailand increase, executives from the airlines said.

They said a rising number of Myanmar nationals visiting the city was the driving demand, and that the numbers peaked during the annual Thingyan Festival, Myanmar’s New Year.
“The Yangon-Chiang Mai route will start operating on 23rd of this month and tickets are on sale s now,” a Shwe Myanmar Airlines executive said.
It will fly between the two cities three times a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – and the price of a one-way ticket will be US$59, the executive said.
