Prayuth says special laws, measures may be used to deal with student fights

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said Friday night that special laws and measures might have to resort to for dealing with gangland-style fighting among rival schools' students.

He said the students who are engaging in street fights are waiting their opportunities and damaging the country’s reputation in the eye of the international community.
“Today we are taking full legal action. What perplexes me is the fact that even with strong laws, things like this still happen; which means people are not afraid of the law,” Prayuth said.
“What should we do now once basic law is not effective? Should we seek for now measures? I don’t want things like this to happen again and neither do the people of Thailand. I am very sorry to see casualties and deaths.”
