“This is a really useful project,” Office of Higher Education Commission secretary-general Kamjorn Tatiyakavee said as he presided over the launch of the project at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) in Bangkok
This project has brought together 40 well-known tutors to offer free tutorial classes for tens of thousands of students until October 12. The classes cover nine subjects such as Thai language, English language, Social Studies, Maths, Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Nearly 70,000 of the project’s participants sit in facilities provided by the project, which is conducted by Saha Pathanapibul Public Co and associates including Nation Multimedia Group.
More than 130,000 others can join the free tutorial classes via broadband broadcast to their schools across the country.
Interested students can also download the project’s textbooks and watch the tutorial classes later via www.247friend.net.
Orawin Boonseng, a Mathayom 6 student, showed up at the UTCC yesterday to take the class.
“My friends and I are eagerly waiting for this project because |our seniors said they joined it before and found it really useful,” she said.
Saha Pathanapibul has organised the project for 17 years with the aim of increasing educational opportunities for Thai children, many of whom are unable to afford fee-charging tutorial classes.
