Deputy police chief Pol-General Ruengsak Jarit-ek said the items were suspected to be from the same lot smuggled into Thailand for possible use in attacks against the People’s Democratic Reform Committee at Banthad Thong and Democracy Monument during their rallies against the Yingluck government last year.
He said police were confident that this cache was part of another cache found three kilometres away on June 19, because of similarities.
Apart from 30 Chinese-made RGD-5 model and 21 RPGII rounds, there were 30 pieces of GRD-5 detonators, 2,250 rounds of 7.62-mm munitions, said Ruengsak. The number of the hand grenades and the munitions are different in an earlier statement made by Khanna Yao police, whose jurisdiction covers the site of the cache.
