Citywide tax on petrol to be launched in Bangkok

The Bangkok Metropolitan Council yesterday approved in principle a draft regulation on collecting tax on petrol, diesel and similar products in the capital.
The council has also set up an ad-hoc committee to vet the draft.
The committee is comprised of 17 members, nine of whom are council members and the rest are executives of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
Such taxes have already been collected in other provinces.
