Supreme Court judge made Ombudsman

Supreme Court senior judge Boon Thapanadul has been chosen by the ombudsman selection committee to replace Chief Ombudsman Panit Nitithanprapas, whose term expired in October last year.

Nine candidates applied for the post but one did not meet the qualification criteria.
The six-member committee voted 4-2 in Boon’s favour.
The National Legislative Assembly has to endorse the appointment.
Boon graduated from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Law and received a master’s degree from the National Institute of Development Administration.
He served as chief judge at Narathiwat Provincial Court, chief justice at the Central Labour Court and the Criminal Court, and president of the Region 9 Court of Appeals and Region 3 Court of Appeals.
