Mum killed while trying to shield son from attackers

A 40-year-old mother died last week after sustaining a blow to the head while trying to shield her 19-year-old son in a bottle-throwing attack in Sa Kaew's Khlong Hat district, her relatives and friends told The Nation yesterday.

Her son, Atthayuth, said the attack took place on the morning of January 23 when his family was about to leave a local fair in a pickup truck.
He said at that point two teenage boys he had issues with drove up in a pickup with 16 people in the back and started throwing beer bottles at him.
Ramjuan Jongrak was pronounced dead on January 27 at Sakaeo Crown Prince Hospital.
Ramjuan’s friend, Patchasunan Aramreung, said the son had a conflict with the two teens three months ago and a fist fight with them three days prior to the bottle attack.
Pol Lieutenant Rungroj Chaoyotha said police had identified the teens involved and would soon summon them for interrogation.
