Driver claims epilepsy fit caused smash; 4 police hurt

A politician based in Phrae province was charged with careless driving after causing injuries to four police officers while travelling in a vehicle on Monday. The suspect was identified as Mae Jua Tambon Administrative Organisation member, Buntham Khunphi

One of the three seriously wounded police officers, Pol Sr Sgt-Major Chaiwut Saensupha, required emergency surgery for which an urgent blood donation was needed. Two other vehicles were involved in the accident in which the police vehicle was pushed off the road in Den Chai district. The condition of the people in the two vehicles was not provided.
Police said similar accidents involving drivers with chronic epilepsy occur regularly in Thailand, including a recent case in which four Nong Bua Lamphu schoolchildren were killed and a dozen others wounded, despite traffic regulations against epileptic driving.

Police charge youths with Pathum Thani cash machine heist
Police have arrested three young men they said robbed a cash machine in Pathum Thani province and yesterday had them re-enact the crime. They are now hunting for an alleged accomplice implicated by the three men.
The suspects – two of whom were identified as Danai Palakool, 20, and Wiwatthana Saharat, 22, together with a 16-year-old boy – are facing charges of committing theft at night using a vehicle – two conditions which carry heavier penalties than an ordinary theft.
According to police, Danai was pulled over on Monday night at a police checkpoint in Pathum Thani, and placed in custody after he tested positive for drugs. Police claim he and the two others allegedly stole an ATM machine from a Krung Thai Bank branch. They later confessed to stealing safes on two occasions.
