Hospitals urged to 'change channels!'

THE PUBLIC Health Ministry has urged state hospital staff to keep switching television channels, after complaints to the 1111 hotline that most hospital TV sets stay on just one channel, with a news host who faces a fraud probe after the National Anti-Cor

Deputy public health permanent secretary Dr Watchara Pengchan issued a memo on January 30, which found its way to social media, suggesting that all hospital bosses should discuss if they will keep switching TV channels on a daily basis. It also urged hospitals to post a public announcement on its TV policy.
Watchara confirmed yesterday that he issued the memo in response to the complaints and insisted that it didn’t ban the particular channel but suggested hospital bosses should decide to switch channels to reduce possible conflicts.
“To prevent more misunderstanding, another memo will be issued to explain that the ministry didn’t block people watching news channels, but urged hospitals to provide health information and to open all information channels for people,” he said.
