Police hunt man who left box at Skytrain station

A unidentified man caused public panic on Sunday by allegedly leaving a suspicious box at the BTS Phya Thai station, upsetting police, who are gathering evidence for an arrest warrant for him.

Bomb disposal officials found that the box contained no explosive – only a digital camera.
Security footage showed the man – wearing a black hat, blue, long-sleeved shirt and a white vest – left a box on the ground and walked away with a different box.
The suspect would be charged with causing public panic, which is punishable by up to one month in jail and a Bt1,000 fine. He could also be prosecuted for robbery, said Pol Colonel Chanawin Puangpet, superintendent of Phya Thai Police, if the investigation finds that he stole the object.
Police are scouring all available surveillance cameras in nearby areas to trace where the man came from and where he headed after.
