Police inspect temple over controversial renovation plan

THE Department of Fine Arts (DFA) has continued its mission to stop Wat Kalayanamit in Bangkok's Thon Buri from proceeding with its controversial renovation plan.

DFA Archaeology Office director Tharapong Srisuchat yesterday joined forensic police and city officials in inspecting damage to centuryold pavilions.
Tharapong met Bupparam Police in the morning to file another complaint over the demolition and to provide more information. Bupparam superintendent Colonel Natthaporn Phadungchan said they would soon seek details from two migrant workers arrested for alleged illegal demolition and released.
Natthaporn said city police chief Lt-General Sriwara Rangsipramanakul had inspected the temple on Thursday and urged police to gather as much evidence as possible and probe all facts carefully.
